What is SkimIt.ai?

How to use SkimIt.ai?

To use SkimIt.ai, you can share an article you find interesting by clicking on the share icon in your browser and emailing the link to [email protected]. The subject line of the email does not matter, but the article link should be the first URL link in the body of the email. Within approximately 10 minutes, you will receive an email with an AI-generated summary of the article. You can also cc your friends in the email to share articles and summaries with them.

This tool isn't working: Help!

If you encounter any issues with the tool, please reach out to [email protected] for assistance. Occasionally, the servers may experience delays, and it might take up to 15 minutes to receive the summary email. Also, check your spam folder for the email.

What is the correct format of the email?

The subject, other contents, and signature of the email do not matter. SkimIt.ai reads the first URL link in the body of the email to generate the summary.

How (and why) would I cc my friends?

If you want to share an article with a friend, you can send the article to [email protected] and cc your friends. Your friends will receive the original article from you and also get the helpful summary from SkimIt.ai.

Is the AI-generated content accurate? Can I rely on it?

No, the AI-generated content should not be relied upon for accuracy. SkimIt.ai is a fun project that provides key takeaways without the need to read full articles. The generated content may contain mistakes, so it is for entertainment purposes only. Please use responsibly.

How do you store my data?

SkimIt.ai retains the email address that sent the request, any CC'd email addresses, and the first URL sent within the email. No other content within the emails is retained by the [email protected] processor.

Why did you build this?

SkimIt.ai was built by Karthik Sridharan and Alex Furmansky as a fun hackathon project. They wanted to practice AI text processing, email handling, and web scraping. Both founders have experience in building and scaling startups, advising and investing in founders, and enjoying plenty of coffee.
